Electronics Recycling Day--The
Dickenson County Litter and Recycling Office will be hosting a
FREE E Waste collection event at the Clinchco Elementary School located
at Clinchco, VA on October 1, 2008. Our event will be conducted
starting 10:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. For information on

Plastic Bag Recycling Roundup--Schools
will be completing their competion Sepetember 1, 2008 until Earth Day
22, 2008. Teachers are encouraged to get there talley sheets to
the Litter and Recycling office by the first week in May. For
more information please call 276-835-8806. Winning schools will
recieve plastic benches and the winning classrooms will recieve a pizza
party. The 2007-2008 overall winner for the elementary schools was
Clintwood Elementary School.
Groundwater Festival for Dickenson County and Buchanan County 6th grade students--The
7th annual Groundwater Festival for 6th grade students in Buchanan and
Dickenson will be held October 14th, 15th and 16th at the beautiful
Breaks Interstate Park Breaks, Virginia. Seven learning stations are
designed to assist area teacher and students with learning the Virginia
Standards of Learning for Science and Math. The Dickenson County
Litter and Recycling Office will be conducting a station designed to
teach anti-litter and environmental issues. For more detail please

1st Annual Keep Southwest Virginia Beautiful Benefit Golf Tournament-
Pending approval of the Willowbrook Country Club, the KSVB is planning
a benefit golf tournament October 27th. Tee time will be
announced as soon as possible. All proceed will be given to the
Keep Southwest Virginia Beautiful organization to futher help the
region with its anti-litter campaign and recycling programs.
Sponosors are being requested-Gold Sponsor ($1,000), Silver
Sponsor ($500) and Bronze Sponsor ($250). This will be a 4 person
captians choice tournament. Per team will be $200 or $50 per
